They hadn’t been able to get a hold of Reyna, but went to where her campsite was anyway hoping to find her there. They pulled into the space next to Reyna’s 4Runner, and Simon cut the engine.

“Stay in the car and keep your head down. I’m hoping to talk to her before she sees you, because she's going to be really pissed. I’m gonna check out if she’s here. Sometimes the cell service is spotty.” He got out of the car and began calling Reyna’s name. No answer came so he pulled out his phone and called Reyna’s phone again. The ringing was coming from somewhere inside the tent. Eventually he located it in a pile of her clothes lying on the cot. He saw from the display that she hadn’t checked any of her messages yet so unless she was blatantly ignoring him, she hadn’t been here since he called that morning. Hopefully she’ll be back soon. It was now late afternoon and he exited the tent debating on what to do while they waited.

Stella had been watching Simon through the side view mirror when she saw a large black figure creeping towards him from the outcropping of rocks. She was about to scream at Simon that there was a wolf when she noticed the eyes. They were a glowing amber. Holy shit, that’s Reyna! She had heard of some werewolves being able to transform completely into wolf form instead of the human form having the wolf-like features of longer, pointed ears, razor sharp teeth and claws, and overall canine features but from what she knew it was extremely rare and difficult to do. She continued to spy on them transfixed as Reyna started to growl, which caused Simon to whirl around then fall backwards over some rocks as he saw the enormous wolf before him. Stella was about to pull on the door handle to get out of the car, not knowing if Reyna was in control or going to attack her best friend, when the wolf seemed to laugh. Well, at least she still has her sense of humor, Stella thought from her hiding place.

“Rey, you’re such an asshole!” Simon yelled, once he realized that Reyna had just made him nearly piss himself. He quickly got up and brushed himself off as the wolf trotted into the tent and Reyna emerged a few minutes later pulling her t-shirt down.

“What are you doing here, Simon?”

“Well if you checked your messages instead of scaring the bejeezus out of me you would know,” he brushed more dirt off his backside. “You do realize I have a kid on the way? Are you trying to make me die of a heart attack before I see my first born?” He sarcastically asked.

“Oh you’ll live. Now really…what are you doing here?” She crossed her arms over her chest. Clearly the time for jokes was over.

“I know why you came here, and I wanted to talk to you.”

Her eyes widened in surprise. “How could you possibly know?”

“Stella came by the house looking for you.
